Most "things to do this summer" roundups treat a town like a menu. Pick a festival here, a concert there, and hope the dates line up with your weekend. Downingtown does not really work that way. The Saturday spine at Kerr Park

The anchor of the borough's summer is not a festival at all. It is the Downingtown Farmers Market, running Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM through the growing season at Kerr Park on East Pennsylvania Avenue. Every Downingtown summer conversation about "what are you up to Saturday" starts from the assumption that the market is happening. It is the default, and everything else, the concerts, the fireworks, the Victory taproom crawls, is scheduled around it.

If you are new to the neighborhood and still driving to the Whole Foods in Devon on Saturday mornings, that is the first habit to break. Kerr Park is the meeting place, and the market is where you run into your neighbors.

Kerr Park after dark: two very different concert nights

The borough programs two summer concert nights at Kerr Park that look similar on a calendar and feel nothing alike in person.

The first is Summer Jam, held Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This is the Downingtown Main Street Association's community concert, presented with Righteous Felon Craft Jerky, and admission is free and open to the public. The 2026 lineup pairs opener Ndichu with headliner Cordelia Blue, with food trucks including Cousins Maine Lobster, Good Girls on the Go!, Mini Millie's Pasta, The Nacho Depot, Rosie's Kettle Corn, and Shimpy's BBQ. There is a beer garden in the field next to the gazebo.

A few practical notes that trip up first-timers. Outside alcohol is not permitted, water bottles are encouraged, large or rolling coolers are turned away at the entrance, and anyone under 18 needs to be with an adult. Park early. The lots off East Pennsylvania fill by 4:30.

The second is Live & Local at Kerr Park on Friday, June 20, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Same park, quieter footprint, a shorter window. If Summer Jam is the block party, Live & Local is the after-work show. Walk there from downtown, bring a chair, keep the evening simple.

The Manor Avenue week: St. Joseph Community Festival

Here is where the calendar tightens. Live & Local on June 20 happens in the middle of the biggest carnival week the borough runs.

St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown holds their 2026 Community Festival Tuesday, June 16 through Saturday, June 20 on the church grounds on Manor Avenue, with carnival rides by Houghton Enterprises, nightly live entertainment, carnival games and Bingo, raffles, a beer garden, food, and a bake sale. The fireworks are the payoff: Friday night, June 19, starting at approximately 9:30 PM, with a rain date of Saturday, June 20.

Ride economics, if you have kids and want to plan the budget before you get there:

The wristband math flips fast. If your kids will ride more than five or six times in a night, the $35 wristband beats loose tickets, and the advance-sale price is worth locking in before June 15.

What most people miss on this week: the fireworks on Friday, June 19 and the Live & Local concert on Saturday, June 20 are less than a mile apart. If you are within walking distance of downtown, you can plausibly do both nights without moving your car. If you are driving in from outside the borough, pick one, because parking rotates between two totally different clusters of streets.

What Victory holds down the rest of the week

The tourist version of Downingtown starts and ends at Victory Brewing on West Boot Road. The resident version treats it as the weeknight overflow room for whatever the calendar is not covering.

The Downingtown taproom programs the shoulder days most summer roundups skip. The taproom hosts a lineup that ranges from weekly Trivia Nights to exclusive beer releases and painting sessions, along with themed nights like a summer band series and yoga classes. A representative example: a Summer Jam Band session on Saturday, June 6, turning the stage over to Dubby for a live set. It runs $70 for the painting nights, $20 for the yoga class with a 12-ounce pour included, and the trivia nights are free to walk into.

Two things to know if you are trying to string a Victory night together with a Kerr Park night. First, the taproom is a fifteen-minute walk from Kerr Park if you cut through downtown, longer if you follow Boot Road. Second, on Summer Jam and fireworks nights, Victory absorbs the pre-game and post-game crowd, so plan accordingly if a quiet booth is what you had in mind.
