November 5, 2026
On Saturday, November 28, the shops and food trucks have King Street from noon to 4 p.m. After that the crowd moves to Burke Park, where the tree lighting caps a two-hour program and the organizers ask everyone to arrive by 4:50. The Malvern Business & Professional Association lists both halves on its Christmas on King page: noon to 4 on King Street, 4 to 6 in the park. The borough's event calendar gives the same noon-to-6 window, with the location listed as "King Street and Burke Park."
So the afternoon happens in two places, with a short walk between them, and the rest of the day's timing works backward from 4:50.
The U.S. Small Business Administration lists Saturday, November 28, 2026, as Small Business Saturday. Christmas on King has been held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving before. Patch's 2022 preview put it on Nov. 26 that year and mentioned holiday sales at local shops along with the food trucks and beer garden. So this year, the national shop-local day and the borough's own holiday afternoon fall on the same date, on the same street.
That means the shopping half of the day has a natural limit. The MBPA calls the King Street hours "shop, sip, and stroll," and those hours end at four. Your own errands and gift stops are on the clock too. Some stores keep short Saturday hours all year. 12 West Boutique at 12 West King Street, for example, lists regular Saturday hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on its website.
Here is the street lineup the MBPA has posted for 2026:
The MBPA's event map for this year was still marked "coming soon" at last check. The page does link to a parking map. For where the beer garden has gone before, borough records help. Ahead of the 2025 event, Borough Council considered letting Locust Lane and Dressler Estate serve in the municipal lot next to Malvern Pizza from noon to 4 p.m., then in Burke Park from 4 to 6 p.m. The beer service changes locations at four, just like everything else.
The 2025 council agenda also explains how the move happens. Council considered a rolling closure of King Street with a police escort from 3:30 to 4 p.m. on November 29, 2025. The route ran from the Malvern Firehouse to Bridge Street and on to Burke Park, for what the minutes call "Santa's Rolling Stop parade." The police chief told council the escort is one that is "usually done for Christmas on King."
So Santa doesn't just appear in the park. In recent years he has led everyone there. Main Line Media News covered the 2024 festival and described crowds moving between King Street and Burke Park, with Santa arriving on an antique red fire engine.
The walk has been there from the start. Patch's 2018 preview called Christmas on King a new event and listed a Santa parade and a Burke Park tree lighting, with festivities on King Street from noon to 8 p.m. It also said most King Street businesses would open at 10 a.m. that day. The street hours have since been shortened to end at four, and the evening has moved to the park.
The park half of the day has its own program. The MBPA's posted 2026 schedule includes:
| Part of the program | Who or what is listed |
|---|---|
| Food and drink | Mayday Coffee Truck, Donut NV, Locust Lane Craft Brewery, Dressler Estate, Rockin' Cotton Candy |
| Performances | Malvern Prep Men's Chorus with the Villa Maria Vocalise, a Ballet 180 Nutcracker performance, Uptown Singers, Twirl Performing Arts dancers, One Voice Chorus |
| Activities | Gingerbread cookie decorating, visits with Santa, hot cocoa |
| Tree lighting | Arrive by 4:50 p.m. |
Most of these performers come from right around Malvern: a school chorus, a ballet company's Nutcracker, a dance studio and several community choirs. Local groups have also used the street half of the day. Main Line Media News reported in 2025 that the MOMS Club of Malvern would set up a booth in front of 12 West Boutique to raise money for the Great Valley Community Organization. The year before, the same club raised money for Prepared to Thrive, according to the paper's 2024 story.
The other big holiday show in town opens the week before. People's Light is running Cinderella: A Musical Panto from November 18 through January 3, 2027. Its ticket calendar shows two shows on Christmas on King day: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 28.
How the two shows line up with the borough's schedule:
With the evening show, you can do both in one day: King Street, the walk, the lights, then the theater. If you'd rather keep Saturday for the festival, the same Thanksgiving weekend also has panto shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, November 27, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 29.
Once the tree is lit, Malvern's holiday calendar quiets down for a few weeks. Saturday, December 19, is the next busy day on the borough's December calendar. Wreaths Across America runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Paoli Memorial Grounds, 404 Monument Avenue, and then "History Center: Holidays" runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Malvern History Center, 1 East 1st Avenue. The panto keeps running too. People's Light has 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. shows on Saturday, December 5, and a 2 p.m. show on Sunday, December 6, and the run continues into the new year.
Those dates are spread out, so they're easy to plan around. November 28 is the busy one, when Small Business Saturday, the King Street festival, the walk to Burke Park and the tree lighting all happen within six hours.
